The results of the Gujarat assembly elections are out. This time the Bharatiya Janata Party has created a new record. In Gujarat, which has 182 assembly seats, 156 BJP candidates won the elections. The Congress suffered the most. The Congress came straight down to 17 from 77 seats. Means Congress had to bear the loss of 60 seats. At the same time, this time only five candidates of the Aam Aadmi Party, which claimed to form the government, could win the elections. Four seats fell in the lap of others.

The Anklav seat in Anand district was crucial from the point of view of the state’s main opposition Congress. This seat is one of those seats in the state in which the party has won three times in a row. In this election, Congress’s sitting MLA Amit Chavda defeated BJP’s Gulab Singh Padhiar by just 2,729 votes. Elections were held on this seat for the first time in 2012. The current MLA here is Amit Chavda of INC who has won three consecutive elections. BJP has not got any victory here so far.

Congress won here in 2017
The Congress had won this seat in the 2017 assembly elections. Congress candidate Amit Chavda defeated BJP’s Hansaku Varba Raj by 33,000 votes in this election. A total of nine candidates were in the fray in this election. Barring the candidates of BJP and Congress, the deposits of the remaining seven candidates were forfeited.
Prior to 2017, this seat was won by the Congress in the 2012 elections. Amit Chavda, who contested from Congress, defeated BJP candidate Jashwant Singh Solanki.

Congress had fielded sitting MLA Amit Chavda on this seat for the 2022 elections. Whereas, BJP made Gulab Singh Padhiar its candidate. Gajendra Singh Raj is in the fray from the Aam Aadmi Party. Polling on this seat will be held in the second phase on December 5. The results will come on December 8.

In 2017, Congress made an edge in Anand district.
Anklav constituency is one of the seven assembly constituencies in Anand district. In 2017, the Congress had won five of the seven seats in the district. Whereas, BJP was successful in winning two seats.
